event in the world* devoted to all musical genres, styles, alliances and 
currents based on digital composition.

The Qwartz Electronic Music Awards are the cornerstone of the QWARTZ 
programme: an international cultural project based on the concept of a 
solidarity economy, developed since 2004 by the Pro/Art association to 
support creativity, cultural diversity and independent producers in the 
field of new music. A field that concerns over 10 000 labels (disc 
publishers) and a listening public of some 70 million people (20 million 
in Europe) aged between 20 and 40.

Every year since 2004, the QWARTZ Electronic Music Awards introduce the 
public, via a worldwide listening and voting procedure, to a 
cross-section of all electronic music (from experimental research to 
techno and dance music) published in the eighteen months preceding the 
event.

Participation in the Awards is free, and awards are made regardless of 
the commercial success or reputation of the entrants: the jury listens 
«blind» to the selected productions on a specific medium that carries no 
name. The nominated works are then put to a worldwide public vote via 
the Web.

In all, 20 Qwartz awards will be won in categories covering music, 
design, audiovisual, event and technical innovation. A gala awards 
ceremony featuring live music and attended by the key participants in 
this event (artists, partners and voters) marks the end of each edition.

*premier et seul événement au monde* consacré à l'ensemble des genres, 
styles, alliances et courants musicaux issus de la création numérique.

Les « Qwartz Electronic Music Awards » constituent la base de la 
plateforme QWARTZ : projet culturel international d'économie solidaire, 
développé depuis 2004 par l'association Pro/Art en faveur de la 
création, la diversité culturelle et les producteurs indépendants de 
musiques nouvelles. Un domaine qui concerne plus de 10 000 labels 
(maisons de production de disques) et un public d'environ 70 millions de 
personnes (20 millions en Europe) de 20 à 40 ans.

Les « QWARTZ, Electronic Music Awards » font connaître, chaque année 
depuis 2004, à travers une procédure d'écoute et de vote mondiale, un 
panel de l'ensemble des productions de musiques électroniques (de la 
recherche expérimentale à la techno et la dance music) éditées dans les 
dix huit mois qui précèdent l'événement.

La participation aux Awards est gratuite et leur attribution 
complètement indépendante des ventes réalisées ou de la notoriété 
acquise : le jury écoute les productions inscrites « à l'aveugle », sur 
un support spécifique ne comportant aucun nom. Les oeuvres «nominées 
sont ensuite soumises au vote du public du monde entier grâce au WEB.

20 «Qwartz awards» sont décernés: musique, graphisme, audiovisuel, 
événement, innovation technologique... Une soirée de remise des prix, 
musicale et artistique, réunissant tous les acteurs de cet événement 
(artistes, partenaires et votants) clôt chaque édition.
